Like leaves over water
shadows flit across my eyes
darkened by the dream
of too many lands, too many loves.
— from my poem, “Vagabondage”
The mind has depths unwilling to be plumbed, too deep for illumination, too costly to be bared. Words can only express the things that well up or get hooked to the surface. The metaphor here should remind us to be patient and ever vigilant to catch the driftwood of our thoughts. We should even dip ourselves in completely from time to time, and go wherever the wind or the current may take us.
As a Bengali hymn goes, Dive Deep, O Mind, Dive Deep…
